Shorty’s Caboy Hattery Becomes Snaffle Bit Futurity Sponsor

NRCHA Sponsor Committee Chairman Carol Rose announced in August that well known custom hat maker, Shorty’s Caboy Hattery, has come on board as a National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity Sponsor.

Rose noted, “We’re thrilled to have Shorty’s Caboy Hattery as a Snaffle Bit Futurity Sponsor. Each division champion – Open, Intermediate Open, Limited Open, Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, Amateur and Ladies – will receive a certificate for a custom-made Shorty’s hat.”

She continued, "Shorty's hats are the very best custom hat you can put on your head and it will be guaranteed to fit your head. Yes, you can customize a hat just to your "likin" complete with your brand or monogram, yes, you can even have an ostrich hat, but of course all the extras are 'extra". Once you have worn a hat by Shorty's, you have worn the best..........that is the feeling of so many customers all over the World who own a hat from Shorty's Caboy Hattery. Shorty is a cowgirl and understands what cowboys and cowgirls need in a hat."

But that’s not all. Shorty Koger, owner and namesake of the business, is also donating a special commemorative pink Breast Cancer Awareness hat to the Hall of Fame Banquet Silent Auction. A breast cancer survivor herself, Shorty created this special line of pink and pink-accented hats to honor the memory of Shirley Bowman, her sister, a breast cancer victim. For every hat sold, Shorty’s Caboy Hattery donates $100 to the Shirley Bowman Fund to assist breast cancer patients.

To help recognize and promote the fight against breast cancer, NRCHA Management Company, Pro Management, Inc., has joined with Shorty in her mission. Each time an exhibitor competes in the Snaffle Bit Futurity horse show in a pink shirt, he or she will receive a special “Rein In Cancer” wristband, compliments of Pro Management. The wristbands will also be for sale in the NRCHA Booth and NRCHA Store at the Futurity and all proceeds will go to the Shirley Bowman Fund.

Cheryl Magoteaux, owner of Pro Management, noted. “I, too, have a sister who had breast cancer, and I have friends who have also fought this awful disease. This is one small way to honor my sister, Zandra Bean, and the others we care so much for and to help those currently going through treatment. I’m confident that our equine community will support this effort by buying the armbands. We will also have special pledge forms for exhibitors at the Snaffle Bit Futurity so that they, on a volunteer basis, can pledge a portion or percentage of their earnings to support this, along with the National Reined Cow Horse Foundation and its programs.”

Shorty Koger said, “As a breast cancer survivor and member of the Equine Community I am proud to sponsor the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity. In partnership with Carol Rose and Cheryl Magoteaux, the Rein In Cancer Fund was born. We are hopeful that people will support this important cause. 100% of the contributions raised through this effort will impact patients living with and fighting cancer. I am honored to participate in this event and wish everyone the best of luck..”

Shorty’s hats are custom made in Oklahoma City, only blocks from the historic Oklahoma City Livestock Yards in Stockyard City. Her business has literally bloomed because of pleased customers and no detail or consideration is too insignificant for Shorty and her team not to take seriously. Each custom western hat is hand crafted to the customer's specifications, most by Shorty personally, using timeless techniques passed from generation to generation of master hatters.
